If you're staying in Seminyak and searching for laser tattoo removal, you'll find plenty of beauty clinics offering it as one service on a long menu. That's fine for a quick fade. But if you want a studio that removes tattoos every single day — and understands ink the way only a tattoo studio does — the honest answer is the same as it is for serious tattoo work: it's in Uluwatu, a short drive south.
What "Laser Removal in Seminyak" Usually Means
Seminyak is a beauty-and-wellness district. Most places there offering laser tattoo removal near Seminyak are general aesthetic clinics — skin treatments, facials, hair removal, and tattoo lasering as a side line. The machine is often a shared, lower-powered aesthetic device, and the person operating it may treat two tattoos a month between a hundred other appointments.
That's not a scam — it's just a different focus. For a light fade it may be enough. For complete removal of a dense, professional tattoo, or for lightening something you want covered later, it matters that the person holding the handpiece removes ink for a living and knows how your specific tattoo will respond.
The Only Dedicated Tattoo-Removal Studio Is in Uluwatu
We're the only dedicated laser tattoo removal studio on the Bukit Peninsula — a working tattoo and laser studio, not a spa with a laser in the back. Removal is a core part of what we do, so people come down from all over south Bali rather than driving north to Denpasar.
Because we tattoo and remove, we see both sides of the ink. We know what "lightening for a cover-up" actually needs versus full erasure, and we set the laser accordingly — more on our laser and approach here.
How Far Is Uluwatu from Seminyak
From Seminyak, the studio is roughly 30–40 minutes south, down through Jimbaran and onto the Bukit. A little longer by car in afternoon traffic, quicker by scooter early in the day.
It slots easily into a beach day — Padang Padang, Bingin and Suluban are right here. Come down for the water, do a quick removal session, drive back. The same short drive that Seminyak visitors make for custom tattoo work is exactly the one worth making for removal.
The Technology — Q-Switched Nd:YAG
Our laser is a professional Q-switched Nd:YAG system working at 1064 nm for black and dark pigments and 532 nm for warmer tones — the same family of technology often marketed as "pico" or picosecond. It's water-cooled, safe on all skin tones, and precise enough to fade one area without touching the skin around it.
The laser shatters ink into fragments small enough for your body to clear through the lymphatic system. Only the pigment is affected — the surface skin stays intact and the risk of scarring is minimal.
What It Costs
Removal is priced per session, mostly by the size of the area being treated:
- Small (around 3×3 cm) — from 500,000 IDR
- 5×5 cm — around 800,000 IDR
- 5×9 cm (credit-card size) — around 1,200,000 IDR
- 10×15 cm — around 2,200,000 IDR
- A4 area — around 4,800,000 IDR
We also discount multi-session plans — −10% for 3 sessions, −20% for 5, −30% for 8+ — and take another 10% off laser if you're planning a cover-up with our artists. The only way to get a real estimate for your tattoo is to send a photo.
How Many Sessions
Most professional tattoos need 6 to 12 sessions for complete removal, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart so the skin can heal and the body can clear the broken-down ink. Black ink usually clears fastest — often in 4 to 8 sessions — while colours take more. Visible fading typically starts after just 1–2 sessions, and the full process runs anywhere from about six months to two years.
No one can give you an exact number sight unseen — here's what actually decides your session count.
If You're Planning a Cover-Up
Not everyone wants the tattoo gone. If your goal is a cover-up, you usually only need to lighten the old piece enough for a new design to sit cleanly over it — often just 2 to 4 sessions instead of full removal.
This is frequently the smarter route: lightening first means the new tattoo can be smaller, cleaner and less dark than if it had to bury the old ink entirely. And because we do both under one roof, the removal and the new design are planned together from the start.
What a Session Feels Like
The session itself is quick — often just a few minutes for a small-to-medium tattoo. Most of the appointment is spent cooling the skin before and after, and we cool it during the pass too, to ease discomfort and reduce swelling. Removal is usually a bit sharper than getting the tattoo, but it's short; we use numbing cream only in exceptional cases.
Afterward, keep the area cool and clean, out of pools and direct sun, and avoid swimming for about 5–7 days while the skin closes. We give every client aftercare instructions tailored to the tropical climate here.
We also remove permanent makeup — microblading, eyebrow, lip and eyeliner tattoos usually take just 2–4 sessions.
The Honest Answer
Is the drive from Seminyak worth it?
For a one-off light fade with no plan behind it, a Seminyak clinic may be enough. But for complete removal, for anything dense or coloured, or for lightening a tattoo you want covered properly — yes, every time. A dedicated studio that removes ink daily, on the right laser, will get you there in fewer surprises and a better result.
