Tattoo Bali — For Australians

World-class tattoos. Bali prices, not Australian ones.

Black-and-grey realism and large-scale projects at Samadhi Uluwatu — 3.5 hours from Sydney, Melbourne or Perth. Book before your Bali trip.

The quality is the same. The price isn't.

Australians have been coming to Bali for decades — and the ones who travel for tattoos know that the gap between a good Bali studio and a Sydney or Melbourne equivalent is purely geographic. The work is the same level. The price is not. A large-scale realism session that costs $800–1,200 AUD in Australia costs a fraction of that here, without any compromise on technique, ink, or hygiene.

Artem — Samadhi's founder — specialises in black-and-grey realism and large-scale compositions. His clients include return visitors who plan Bali trips specifically around tattoo sessions: a back piece over three trips, a sleeve across two. The studio is in Uluwatu — a direct flight from every major Australian city, easily combined with a surf trip or a longer Bali stay.

Minimum price for a tattoo starts from 1,500,000 IDR. Session pricing is individual and quoted after consultation with the artist — it depends on the style, placement, and scale of the work. Contact us via WhatsApp with your reference and we will give you an accurate estimate for your specific project.
Contact us via WhatsApp or Instagram with your idea, references, and preferred travel dates. We'll confirm availability and give you an honest estimate before you book flights. Most clients lock in their session dates 4–8 weeks before arrival. We recommend having your dates confirmed before booking accommodation.
At a proper studio — yes, entirely. Samadhi uses single-use needles, medical-grade ink, and full sterilisation protocols. The same standards you'd expect in Australia. The risk comes from street-side shops without sterilisation equipment — avoid those and you're fine. We're happy to answer specific questions about our setup before you visit.
Yes, with the right aftercare. Tropical heat and sun are the main factors to manage. We give every client detailed written aftercare instructions adapted for Bali conditions — keeping the tattoo out of direct sun, staying out of the ocean for the first two weeks, keeping it moisturised in the heat. Most clients who follow the protocol heal well. We also recommend timing your session so you have at least 10–14 days in Bali after it, not the day before your flight home.
Depends on the size. A detailed medium piece (A4–A3) can often be completed in one session. Large-scale projects — full backs, sleeves — typically require 7–12 sessions across multiple visits. Many Australian clients treat it as a reason to return: first trip for planning and the first session, subsequent trips to continue. We design the project as a whole from the start, so each session builds on the last.
Black-and-grey realism is our primary focus — portraits, wildlife, botanical, abstract. Fine line and blackwork are also available. We don't do colour realism, traditional, or neo-trad. If your idea fits within black-and-grey or fine line, we're the right studio. If it doesn't, we'll tell you honestly rather than try to make it work.
