A souvenir tattoo is designed to be recognised, not felt. It says "I was here" instead of saying anything about you. The issue isn't the size — plenty of small tattoos are deeply personal — it's that flash-off-the-wall designs are made once and inked on hundreds of strangers.

Here's the part most tourist-tattoo guides skip: the price gap between Bali and Australia isn't small, and it isn't a trade-off against quality. That gap is exactly why large-scale work makes sense as a Bali project specifically. For anything large-scale, 6–8 weeks of lead time gives room to plan the full composition properly before you land — the design should be settled before your first session, not sketched the morning of.
- Leave healing time in the itinerary. Don't schedule your session for the day before you fly home. Tropical heat and sun are real factors — we give every client Bali-specific aftercare instructions, and the honest advice is 10–14 days in the country afterwards before a long-haul flight, plus staying out of the ocean early on.
- Ask the boring questions. Sterilisation, needle sourcing, healing protocol — a studio with nothing to hide will answer them plainly. If a shop gets defensive about hygiene questions, that's your answer.
